UK Govt must unequivocally oppose Rafah ground invasion

The Israeli military has communicated to the civilian population of Rafah that they are about “to operate with great force” in areas where they are currently sheltering. Speaking in response, Christian Aid’s Head of Middle East Policy & Advocacy William Bell said:

"Gaza is on the brink of a total collapse, and it is innocent civilians who are paying the price. The mass displacement, bombardment, starvation, disease and escalating death toll will not end with this offensive. Nowhere is safe.

“Christian Aid is in constant touch with our local partners who are trying to provide emergency shelter, food and medicine across Gaza. They report that temporary shelters in Khan Yunis have been destroyed and panic has set in as people contemplate evacuation.

“For the sake of humanity, all parties must be brought back to the negotiating table and agree to a permanent ceasefire.  The UK Government must be unequivocal and oppose a ground invasion of Rafah and suspend arms sales to Israel.”
