Christian Aid vows to continue life-saving work in Gaza following aid worker deaths

Christian Aid’s Head of Middle East Policy & Advocacy, William Bell, said: “The devastating deaths of seven more aid workers, in addition to the numerous Palestinian aid workers and more than 32,000 civilian men, women and children who have been slaughtered in this conflict is another horror heaped upon horror.

“Our prayers are with the families and friends of everyone who has suffered or died, and we send our sincere condolences to World Central Kitchen.

“We will not be stopping or scaling down our life-saving humanitarian work in Gaza, where we have been working for decades.

“We operate through partners who have been delivering food, shelter, sanitation and medical care throughout this conflict at great personal risk, including in remote, hard-to-reach areas.

“Our partners have strict security measures in place but, of course, they are not safe and live in constant fear of being killed.

“They are just trying to survive - as all civilians in Gaza are - what the ICJ believes might be genocide.

“The only way to stop the killing and ensure a safe and effective humanitarian response is with an immediate and permanent ceasefire.”
