Christian Aid responds to new Government renewable energy policy

Responding to the news that the Government is to end its ban of onshore wind, Christian Aid’s Head of Policy, Dr Alison Doig, said: 

“It’s good to see the Government showing support for the most cost effective and cleanest forms of renewable energy.  As a historic polluter, it’s only right the UK leads the way in rapidly decarbonising our economy and so we must use all the clean energy sources we have at our disposal. 
 
“If we are going to tackle the climate crisis these are the kinds of solutions we need to see being rolled out all over the world.  The government can see the benefits of clean energy at home, so they should match this abroad and rather than funding oil and gas projects overseas, help poorer countries also reap the benefits of renewables.”
