UK's £290m finance pledge at COP26 a "drop in the ocean"

Responding to the announcement that the UK Government will be providing £290m to help vulnerable countries deal with the impacts of climate change, Jennifer Larbie, Christian Aid's UK advocacy and policy lead, said:

“Tackling the climate adaption finance gap will take billions not millions. When you think of the big cuts we’ve already seen to UK climate adaption programmes due to the cuts in overseas aid, this £290m pledge is simply another drop in the ocean compared to the support that countries on the frontline really need to respond to a climate crisis they did not cause.”
