Russian missiles during the Eurovision Song Contest on Saturday destroyed a humanitarian site in Ukraine, it has been confirmed.
International development charity, Christian Aid, has reported a Russian missile destroyed a Christian Aid food warehouse in Ternopil - the hometown of Ukraine's Eurovision entrant Tvorchi.
Ivan Hontar, the head of Christiana Aid’s local partner charity Light of Reformation, explained: "Our warehouse with humanitarian aid, which also served as a hub for inter-church coordination in our region, was completely demolished."
Christian Aid's Ukraine Programme Manager, Lizz Harrison, added: "This latest attack on a non-military target shows the risks taken by our Ukrainian partners every day to ensure humanitarian aid reaches those who need it most."
Thankfully, Christian Aid has confirmed that no warehouse staff were injured. Their partner, Light of Reformation, has also confirmed their work will continue.
The food packages, worth around £12,800, were going to be distributed for Ukraine Mother's Day on Sunday. They will all be replaced by Christian Aid using UK public donations to the DEC Ukraine appeal.
