Christian Aid welcomes end to UK funding of overseas fossil fuels

Reacting to the news that the UK is to end direct support for overseas fossil fuel projects, Christian Aid's Head of Campaigns and UK Advocacy, Pete Moorey, said:

“In order to tackle the climate crisis we need to leave fossil fuel reserves in the ground. The UK Government is right to heed this warning and end support for fossil fuels overseas.

"Developing countries need investment to leapfrog the dirty energy that has led us into this crisis and access the clean renewables that can both accelerate their development and tackle the climate emergency. 

"A global green recovery must not leave the countries on the front line of the climate crisis behind. It’s time to ensure UKEF funding and other support boosts renewables investment around the world.”
