Christian Aid has appointed two new directors to lead its Fundraising and Supporter Engagement department and its Policy, Public Affairs and Campaigns department.
Nick Georgiadis will be joining the international development organisation as Director of Fundraising and Supporter Engagement.
After various roles in sales and marketing, Nick moved to the charity sector in 2000, joining the then Imperial Cancer Research Fund (now CRUK). He took on a variety of strategy and marketing roles there, becoming Head of Individual Giving and Legacy Marketing, working to grow the charity's two biggest income streams to be worth £1/4bn annually. In late 2015, he moved to the British Heart Foundation to become Director of Individual Giving and Product Marketing, leading a team of 65 fundraisers to raise more than £100m, over 80% of BHF's fundraised income.
Nick says: “I'm delighted to have the chance to be joining such a wonderful organisation as Christian Aid that does such great work, and am looking forward to helping drive income growth to help end poverty.”
Patrick Watt will be joining the charity as Director of Policy, Public Affairs and Campaigns.
After various roles at World Vision, ActionAid, the World Bank and Oxfam, Patrick moved to Save the Children UK in 2009 to become Policy Director, managing policy outputs and leading advocacy coordination for Save the Children’s first global campaign. In 2011, he moved to Save the Children International to become Director of Campaigns, Advocacy and Communications, leading a team of 50 across the Save the Children International Head Office, 6 regional and 55 Country Offices. Patrick has written and spoken widely on international development issues including education, health, aid, debt and trade, and has widespread experience of engaging international institutions.
Patrick says: “I'm excited to be joining an organisation that has a proud history of advocating for social, economic and environmental justice. It's a privilege to be given the opportunity to contribute to the organisation, at a time when the development landscape is changing rapidly, and when courageous and effective campaigning is urgently needed to realise rights, end poverty and protect the planet.”
Amanda Khozi Mukwashi, the CEO of Christian Aid, says: “I am delighted that we have filled these pivotal director roles at Christin Aid by appointing Nick and Patrick, who both have extensive and appropriate experience in developing strategy and fundraising in the sector. I look forward to working with them both as we all move forward as one Christian Aid, pursuing our global strategy with a prophetic voice on the many urgent challenges of today, and exposing and seeking to rid the world of the scandal of extreme poverty.”
Both Nick and Patrick will be starting on 5 August.
