Patrick Watt, CEO of international development agency Christian Aid, will be in Lebanon for four days from this Sunday (26 January), the deadline for the withdrawal of Israeli forces as agreed in last year’s Israel-Lebanon ceasefire.
UN figures from earlier this month show there are 870,000 internally displaced people and 87,000 refugees in Syria (both Syrian and Lebanese nationals) have returned to an extremely challenging conditions in their area of origin. Over 100,000 people remain displaced in Lebanon. Christian Aid’s partners are providing counselling, medical relief such as food, cash assistance and other essentials and are supporting community–led initiatives.
